An Iowa City car theft suspect is now also accused of breaking into laundry machines and stealing quarters.

Last week 32-year-old Yshan Rogers of East Davenport Street allegedly stole a car from 130 North Linn Street and led police on a brief chase before crashing the vehicle near Burlington and Clinton Streets. He was charged with 1st Degree Theft, Eluding, Operating While Intoxicated, and Possession of a Controlled Substance. If convicted on all charges, he faces a maximum of 13 years in prison.

Iowa City Police say Rogers is now also a suspect in a pair of burglaries to laundry machines at apartment buildings on the 400 block of South Linn Street. The two buildings are connected, and Rogers allegedly took approximately $350 in change around 9pm on August 16th. Police say he claimed he only took about $5 worth.

Rogers faces two charges of 4th Degree Theft. If convicted on both charges, he faces a maximum of two years in jail.
