A Coralville man was charged with OWI this weekend after an alleged erratic driving incident.
At approximately 2:47am Saturday, 21-year-old Anthony Martinson of 1st Avenue was traveling northbound on I380 in North Liberty when he was reportedly made several lane violations in view of a Johnson County deputy. A traffic stop was initiated, and Martinson allegedly showed several signs of intoxication, including bloodshot watery eyes, slurred speech, and the heavy odor of ingested alcohol.
Martinson reportedly admitted having six drinks over the course of six hours at a strip club, and stated that he felt okay to drive. A PBT showed his BAC over the legal limit to drive, and a Datamaster test showed it at .160 percent.
A check of Martinson’s driving record showed a previous OWI conviction in Johnson Country from 2019.
He was charged with his second offense, an aggravated misdemeanor.
