A top-ranked wrestler in her weight class has committed to the University of Iowa.
The Des Moines Register reports Flowrestling ranks Indiana’s Rianne Murphy as the No. 6 105-pound wrestler in the country in the high school ranks. Murphy is a Fargo champion, a U15 and U17 Pan-American champion and a U17 Women’s National champion. She recently took fifth at the U20’s this spring, and also won the girls high school recruiting showcase at the US Open.
Murphy wrestled at in various college opens this past year, and took first-place in the Indiana Tech Warrior Open and the East Stroudsburg Open.
In announcing her decision, Murphy said she visited with several college coaches, who she called “a testament to not only how far women’s wrestling has evolved, but where it is going. I have never felt more assured than now that the future is bright.”
