An Iowa City man was taken into custody on a warrant stemming from a vehicle burglary this past summer.
Police say on August 5th, 19-year-old Rashard Brown of Clearwater Court was on the 1200 block of Shannon Drive and committed a burglary on an unoccupied vehicle with another suspect. They allegedly stole a handgun from the vehicle.
The other suspect reportedly was found in possession of the stolen firearm in Illinois. He allegedly admitted to taking the handgun to Brown’s house, where they both fired the gun.
It’s alleged that the two committed over 30 different vehicle burglaries that night.
A warrant was issued February 10th; Rashard was arrested March 29th and he posted bond April 1st. He will be arraigned at a later date.
If convicted on 3rd degree vehicle burglary, Rashard could be sentenced to up to two years in jail.
