A Prairie City man who reportedly caused about $1500 in damages to multiple ambulances at the Johnson County facility in Iowa City has been additionally charged with drug possession and carrying a fictitious ID.
KCJJ previously reported staff at the Johnson County Ambulance Service on South Dubuque Street heard a panic horn go off on one of its ambulances parked across the street at the Johnson County Health and Human Services Building parking ramp on December 21st. A check of the ambulances showed one had been broken into and rifled through, with damage to the trim on a cabinet. A second ambulance had its front windshield crushed in.
20-year-old William Oelmann of Prairie City was allegedly found locked inside a third ambulance with blood on his hands consistent with a glass injury. The cost to repair the damage, replace the windshield and clean the blood and glass out of the vehicles was expected to be in excess of $1,500.
Oelmann was charged with 2nd Degree Criminal Mischief and Public Intoxication. On April 1st, he was given a deferred judgement and one year of probation.
Additional charges have been filed against Oelmann. An employee found a wallet in one of the damaged ambulances and found his legal ID and a completely fictitious one showing him to be over 21.
