The University of Iowa is temporarily suspending its search for a new associate provost for graduate and professional education and dean of the Graduate College.
An internal search was launched in February, and the university identified two finalists for the position in April. UI officials report that after interviews with campus stakeholders; a candidate was offered the position but elected to pursue another opportunity.
Amanda Haertling Thein, associate provost for graduate and professional education and dean of the Graduate College, accepted a position in January as dean at the University of Colorado Boulder School of Education. She will begin the position on July 1.
UI officials say the campus will be notified before the search resumes. An interim associate provost and dean will be appointed to serve until a new dean is in place.
