An Iowa City man was arrested Saturday afternoon after threatening to kill someone at his residence.
Police say the incident occurred at the Nevada Avenue home of 35-year-old Matthew Boyle at around 2:10pm. The victim said Boyle threatened to kill him several times while they were in the home.
When police arrived, Boyle reportedly balled his fist and got into a fighting stance within 6 inches of an officer. He was told to step back and complied, but Boyle then stepped up to the officer again and got within inches of him.
Boyle was placed under arrest and was told to walk with officers to their squad car. Instead, he allegedly spread his feet and refused to step forward. Boyle eventually sat down and refused to move. It took three officers to get him into the squad car. Boyle also allegedly told an officer that once he got out of jail, he was going to find him and kill him.
He was charged with 2nd degree harassment, two counts of assault on persons in certain occupations, and interference with official acts. If convicted on all charges, Boyle could be sentenced to over three years in prison.
