Coralville Police have arrested a woman they say had her mother buy drugs for her.

A search warrant was executed on the 10th Street Court residence of 26-year-old Jada Bursey at about 9:00 on the morning of March 12th. Police say one of the items seized was a cellphone belonging to Bursey’s mother. A second search warrant executed on the phone reportedly turned up evidence that Bursey’s mother had purchased marijuana for her daughter two days earlier. There was also allegedly a message from Bursey asking if the mother had purchased the drugs, with the mother confirming, “Yes”.

Police say a search of Bursey’s residence turned up evidence of drug use, distribution and possession in multiple rooms and common areas. She’s now charged with a Controlled Substance Violation and Keeping Premises for the Use of Controlled Substances. If convicted on both counts, she faces a maximum of seven years in prison.
