State Auditor Rob Sand’s office reports that just 24 hours after launching his campaign for governor, the campaign raised a record of over $2.25 million, including donations from all 99 Iowa counties, breaking state records for the most raised in that period in the state’s gubernatorial campaign history.
The figure does not include any self-funding or donations from the candidate’s in-laws, and includes donations from Democrats, Republicans, and Independents across the state.
In a release from his campaign office, Sand said, “I’m grateful to the Iowans who put their trust in me and who gave their hard-earned dollars to support this campaign so I can continue fighting for all Iowans in the governor’s office.”
Sand previously raised $8.4 million from more than 28,000 grassroots supporters in an off-year and before he even launched his campaign for governor.
