A North Liberty man was taken into custody earlier this week after an alleged assault on his partner.
The victim came to the North Liberty Police Department at 10am Tuesday to file a report. She said that she and her partner, 26-year-old Dawson Medin, had been arguing for a few days and had escalated that morning.
The victim said she was mad because Medin didn’t make her coffee that morning, so she went to pour his coffee out. That led to Medin allegedly pushing her up against the couch, refusing to let her move or grab her phone to call her mother. He then reportedly grabbed a mason jar and hit her on the right side of her head.
Police say she still had dried blood on her face and blood in her hair from the injury when she came to the Department. The woman also showed police photos of her injuries she alleged were suffered that morning.
Medin was taken into custody and charged with Domestic Abuse Assault causing Bodily Injury, a serious misdemeanor. A no-contact order was issued by Judge Brandon Schrock Thursday, and he was released on his own recognizance pending arraignment. If convicted on the charge, Medin could be sentenced to up to a year in jail.
