A Coralville man was arrested Thursday afternoon after allegedly being involved in an incident involving a firearm.
North Liberty Police were called to the North Liberty Park Apartments on Sugar Creek Lane just after 1:45pm. 20-year-old Malik Maratre Harrrel was detained after an investigation allegedly determined he was involved in an altercation where it was reported a man had a firearm.
A check of Maratre Harrel’s record showed an active warrant out of Wisconsin, and once confirmed, the state requested to extradite him.
Once he was told he was under arrest for the Wisconsin warrant, Maratre Harrel allegedly attempted to run and resisted until officers were able to hold him on the ground. After he was handcuffed, officers discovered a loaded firearm in his right pant leg.
Maratre Harrel was charged with Interference with Official Acts involving a Firearm, a Class D Felony punishable by a prison term of up to five years if convicted.
