Planned Parenthood announced the closure of four of its health centers just ahead of the Memorial Day weekend.

The Gazette reports the locations include Cedar Rapids, Ames, Sioux City and Urbandale. The closures follow a drop in Iowa patients that resulted from new abortion restrictions last year, a $2.8 million federal funding freeze in Minnesota, and the prospect of further cuts that federal lawmakers have partially approved.

Planned Parenthood has been the target of conservatives due to its abortion work, though it also provides birth control and other services to women at reduced costs. The organization said it would continue to provide medication abortion services in Des Moines and would resume its availability in Iowa City.

The Cedar Rapids location, on First Avenue SE, has already been closed.

Planned Parenthood North Central States will keep 15 health centers in five states and has telehealth services available seven days each week.
