A plea deal has been reached in the case of a central Iowa man accused of sexually abusing a Coralville juvenile.
Coralville Police say 37-year-old Jermeze Martin of Urbandale regularly abused the girl from August of 2020 through June of 2024, when the girl ranged in age from 12 to 15 years. Martin reportedly admitted to performing sex acts with the girl. Investigators say Martin also provided the girl with marijuana before the sex acts occurred.
Martin was initially charged with Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child and Drug Distribution to a Person Under 18. If convicted on both counts, he would have faced a maximum of 50 years in prison.
Online records show Martin has now reached a plea deal. Terms of that deal are not listed, although Iowa Courts Online shows new charges of 3rd Degree Sexual Abuse and Lascivious Acts With a Child. Sentencing is set for July 7th.
