An Iowa City man was arrested after being accused of assaulting a woman and threatening her life.

Arrest reports indicate the incident occurred at around 4am May 21st at the Herbert Hoover Highway residence of 24-year-old Keith Brown.  He’s accused of choking the victim several times until she vomited, pointing a firearm at her, and placing a firearm to her head.

The woman told police she was in fear for her life, and believed Brown was going to kill her.  He also allegedly prevented her from using her phone several times during the incident, and prevented her escape by grabbing her and choking her when she attempted to leave.

The victim had visible injuries, and she reported pain in several areas, including her throat, hips, and her leg.

A warrant was issued for Brown’s arrest on May 30th; Brown was taken into custody Monday afternoon. He is charged with Intimidation with a Dangerous Weapon, Assault while Displaying a Dangerous Weapon, Dominion or Control of a Firearm as a Felon, and False Imprisonment. If convicted on all counts, Brown faces a prison term of up to 13 years.
