An Iowa City man was charged with contempt after attempting to contact the subject of a no-contact order while at the Johnson County Jail.
38-year-old Terrence Martin was booked into the facility June 3rd on a Domestic Abuse Assault 3rd or subsequent charge. He was issued a no contact order by Judge Brandon Schrock the next day forbidding him from contacting the alleged victim.
Martin proceeded to break the order multiple times. Jail staff says between the morning of June 8th and the morning of June 18th, he attempted to call the victim at total of 113 times. 17 of the calls were answered, and audio of the conversations was reportedly captured by the jail’s phone system.
Martin was charged with 17 counts of contempt; a hearing has been scheduled for July 3rd. An additional no-contact order was issued by Judge Christine Boyer.
