A pair of Cedar Rapids women has been arrested after Iowa City Police say they were involved in a downtown Iowa City brawl.
23-year-old Masiya Fields of Oakland Road NE and 19-year-old Myesha Fields of Center Street NE were booked into the Johnson County Jail between 1:45 and 2:30 Friday morning. Police say at about 1:30 on the morning of May 18th, the Fields were among at least three people who threw another woman to the ground in front of Elray’s Live & Dive on Iowa Avenue. The group then allegedly punched, kicked and stomped on the woman while pulling out her hair.
Arrest records indicate the Fields admitted to being at the scene, but they denied being involved in the assault. Masiya Fields reportedly told police she had been acting as a “lookout” to make sure nobody “jumped” Myesha Fields while she was on top of the alleged victim committing the assault.
Both Fields are charged with Assault Causing Bodily Injury. If convicted, they each face a maximum of one year in jail.
