A Black Hawk County man is accused of masturbating in a waiting room at University of Iowa Health Care.
UI Police were called to the second floor of the Pomerantz Pavilion on Hawkins Drive just after 8:15 Friday morning. A witness reports hearing a “bang or crash” in a waiting room, and running in to find 36-year-old Demetry Lewis of Waterloo lying on a bench with his hand down his pants, masturbating. The loud noise was reportedly caused by Lewis knocking over a lamp while pleasuring himself.
The witness reports other people were present in the waiting room at the time.
Arriving officers say Lewis smelled of ingested alcohol and showed signs of intoxication. He allegedly admitted to drinking alcohol during his trip down from Waterloo.
Lewis is charged with Indecent Exposure and Public Intoxication. If convicted on both counts, he faces a maximum of 13 months in jail.
