Researchers in the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy tell KCJJ they have been furloughed due to cuts in federal funding…but university officials say they’re unaware of the situation.
Multiple employees within the department told KCJJ they have been told they are being furloughed due to what they call “decreases in research funding and uncertainty” about future funding.
The sources who spoke with KCJJ could not provide the specific number of affected employees, nor did they say how they were informed or who informed them.
University officials have reached out to KCJJ to say the reports are false, and they are unaware of any furloughs.
