A longtime staple for tenderloins in Johnson County is no more.
Joensy’s on North Dodge Street has officially closed. That word comes from a post on the Joensy’s Facebook page, and was confirmed by a post on the Facebook page of Backes Commercial Auctioneers, which is selling Joensys’ old equipment.
One person in the comments of the Joensy’s Facebook page asked why the restaurant was closing, with the account replying, “Sold out to Dr. Larew”. Larew Internal Medicine is in the same strip mall as Joensy’s.
The restaurant earned its reputation for huge tenderloins at its former location in Solon. It was hit with numerous health code violations in 2007, and the Solon location was closed in 2012. The building was razed and the property redeveloped as Big Grove Brewery. A new Joensy’s then opened in Iowa City.
