An Iowa City man was arrested Sunday afternoon after an alleged assault on his wife.
Police say 40-year-old Andrii Pavliv of Petsel Place exited his residence, where he came upon his wife, who was on a walk. He then began hitting the woman. She reportedly suffered bruising under her left eye as a result of the altercation.
Pavliv was located outside the back door of the residence smoking when police arrived, and allegedly admitted that he drank too much.
He was charged with Domestic Assault causing Injury and Public Intoxication. He faces up to 13 months in jail if convicted on both counts; a no-contact was requested between the couple.
Monday morning, Pavil returned to the residence with a six-pack of beer and yelled at his daughter to open the door for him. His wife was not home at the time, but the no-contact order specified that he was only allowed a one-time visit with a police escort. Pavliv was arrested again and charged with contempt.
