Allegedly stabbing a man in the head with a broken liquor bottle had led to an Iowa City woman’s arrest.
Iowa City Police say just after 8:30 Saturday night 30-year-old Jazmine Needom of Broadway Street became involved in an altercation with the alleged victim outside an address on Taylor Drive after Needom claims she saw the man talking to other women outside their shared residence. The man allegedly called Needom a “bitch” leading to her throwing a bottle of Jameson’s Whiskey at his head. The man was struck, and Needom left.
Witnesses told police they also saw Needom smash the bottle against a nearby vehicle and stab the man in the head with it. The man’s wound was still bleeding when police found him almost two hours later. Needom is the protected party in a no-contact order with the alleged victim.
Needom is charged with Willful Injury Causing Serious Injury. If convicted, she faces a maximum of ten years in prison.
