A Quad Cities man recorded a dangerously high breath alcohol level upon his arrest for drunk driving in Cosgrove Saturday afternoon.

Just before 3:30 p.m. Johnson County Sheriff’s deputies pulled over a 2017 Toyota Camry near the intersection of Cosgrove Road and 400th Street for reports of reckless driving. Several empty alcohol bottles were reportedly found inside the vehicle, and the driver…30-year-old Vincent Oswalt of Davenport, allegedly admitted to drinking, smelled overwhelmingly of alcohol, and showed multiple signs of impairment.

Oswalt’s breath alcohol level was measured at .319%. Studies show some effects of a BAC over .31% include acute alcohol poisoning, onset of coma, and possible death due to respiratory arrest.

Oswalt was arrested and charged with Operating While Intoxicated.
