Iowa City man charged after attempting to use stolen credit card

An Iowa City man was arrested after he allegedly tried to use a stolen credit card to make purchases.

According to the arrest report, 37-year-old Darryl Minniefield of the Town and Campus Apartments on Arthur Street entered the CVS drug store on Muscatine Avenue the morning of June 5th and attempted to use a credit card that he knew or should have known was stolen.  The card had been allegedly stolen after a vehicle burglary the night before.

Minniefield attempted to use the card two different times for purchases of nearly $114 and $56.95, both declined because the card had been reported stolen.

Minniefield was identified on security footage as the person trying to use the card, and reportedly admintted that he was given the card by another subject.

MInniefield was charged with two counts of Unauthorized use of a Credit Card, an aggravated misdemeanor. If convicted on both charges, he could be sentenced to up to four years in prison.
