Trial has been delayed for a Riverside sex offender accused of committing more sexual abuses against a child.

51-year-old Jason Bex of Highway 22 was arrested in Conesville in May. Bex was wanted on five counts of 2nd Degree Sexual Abuse Involving a Child, four counts of Lascivious Acts With A Child, and five other felony sexual abuse charges. The alleged victim is listed as a child under the age of 14.

Bex was set to stand trial starting this coming Tuesday, but court records now show it has been delayed until October 28th.

The Iowa Sex Offender Registry indicates Bex was convicted on four counts of Assault With Intent to Commit Sexual Abuse in Washington County in 2018. One girl was between six and eight years old, and the other three were between 14 and 17 years of age. Bex was sentenced to nine years in prison.

If convicted on the new charges against him, Bex would face a maximum sentence of 170 years in prison.
