Even though the cool temperatures may make it a moot point, the Iowa Department of Natural Resources is recommending against swimming at Lake Macbride and at one beach on Coralville Lake this Labor Day weekend.
The DNR’s beach monitoring web site indicates a high level of E. Coli in the water at Lake Macbride, making it unsafe for swimming. The same site says water at the F.W. Kent Park beach is safe.
Earlier this week the Army Corps of Engineers posted to the official Coralville Lake Facebook page that while an E. Coli advisory remains in effect for the Sugar Bottom Campground beach, similar advisories have been lifted for the West Overlook Day Use beach and the Sugar Bottom Day Use beach.
