A Coralville man has been charged after video surveillance allegedly caught him breaking down the door to a residence and taking items within.

The incident happened in the overnight hours Thursday, when 31-year-old Ladarrel Jones of Kodiak Court approached a 20th Avenue residence. The video reportedly shows him kicking in both front doors of the residence.

Jones then allegedly took property from inside and fled on foot.

The doors, valued at a total approximate price of $500, were heavily damaged and need to be replaced.

Jones was charged with 3rd degree Burglary and 4th degree Criminal Mischief. If convicted on both counts, he could be sentenced to up to six years in prison.
