The Immigrant Welcome Network of Johnson County held a grand opening on Friday for a new two-unit Welcome House duplex at 2431 and 2433 Catskill Court in Iowa City.
The IWNJC says the project marks a significant milestone in its mission to provide temporary housing, stability, and wraparound support for immigrant, refugee, and new Iowan families in Johnson County.
Iowa City city councilor Mazahir Salih, Executive Director of IWNJC, called the new duplex a “symbol of hope, community, and partnership.”
The project was made possible by donations from the Housing Trust Fund of Johnson County, Resilient and Sustainable Future of Iowa City, the Brick by Brick Campaign, and Housing into Home.
