A Cedar Rapids woman has been arrested and charged with burglarizing an outdoors store.

According to police, 40-year-old Brittany Hardt of 17th Street SE entered Iowa River Outdoors in Swisher just before 4am July 24th and allegedly stole seven fishing reels and two compound bows.  Cellphone data obtained by investigators reportedly showed Hardt and another suspect were in the immediate area of the burglary when it occurred.  A week later, Hardt and the other suspect allegedly pawned four of the stolen fishing reels in Cedar Rapids.  She also reportedly sent photos of the fishing reels on Facebook Marketplace to another individual in an attempt to sell them.

Two other fishing reels were found in Hardt’s home on August 12th. A pair of bolt cutters that investigators believe Hardt used to gain entry and smash a display cabinet was also reportedly found.

A warrant was issued November 4th; Hardt is charged with 3rd degree Burglary, 3rd degree Theft, and Possession of Burglar’s tools.  She faces a prison sentence of up to 9 years if convicted.
