A precautionary boil order is in effect for residents of the Western Hills mobile home park in Coralville after a pipe burst Friday night.

KCRG TV reports the Johnson County Affordable Housing Coalition said management notified residents of the boil order hours after the incident. Havenpark Communities owns the mobile home park.

The Coalition’s Executive Director Jessica Andino told TV9 it warned residents about the order in a post on Facebook and recommended a precautionary boil order on Friday night. She said Havenpark Communities didn’t inform residents about the incident until 9:40 a.m. on Saturday.

Havenpark issued a statement, saying after receiving reports of standing water and low pressure on Friday their water service vendor discovered two breaks in the main water line that were repaired, restoring service by 10pm. They issued the precautionary boil notice and informed the DNR Saturday at 9:30am.  Residents were informed through emergency text messages and door to door notices. Each residence had a case of water delivered Friday afternoon.

Havenpark’s statement added, “We recognize this situation is inconvenient….Our team is staying in close communication and will continue providing updates as we work to resolve the issue and work with DNR to lift the boil notice as quickly as possible.”

It’s anticipated the boil order will be rescinded within the next few days.
