A Tiffin woman was arrested for OWI early Saturday after multiple reports of alleged erratic driving.

21-year-old Alyssa Mente of Aster Drive was called in by multiple motorists for driving on Interstate 380 without headlights activated.  Each reporting party gave the same description of the vehicle, and various reports accused her of failing to maintain her lane, driving over her lane, driving onto the shoulder, and at one point forcing another motorist off the road.

A traffic stop was initiated at 2:11am by a Johnson County deputy near southbound mile marker 4.  Upon contact, a strong odor of ingested alcohol was reportedly detected, along with red bloodshot watery eyes.  Mente allegedly admitted to drinking at a birthday party in Cedar Rapids before getting behind the wheel.

After performing poorly on field sobriety tests, Mente gave breath-alcohol readings of .135 and .159 percent on a PBT and Datamaster, respectively.

She was charged with OWI 1st offense, a serious misdemeanor.
