Gas prices have dipped significantly in Iowa, according to the latest figures from Gas Buddy.

The latest figures show the average cost for a gallon of gas among the over 2000 stations surveyed is $2.55. That’s a little over 11 cents less than last week, but over 26 cents a gallon less than it was a month ago.

Comparing the current price of gas to last year at this time, we’re paying 11.7 cents less.

Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at Gas Buddy, said barring any major disruptions, he sees prices staying relatively low into the new year.

Nationally, the average price of a gallon of gas is $2.90, a drop of 5 cents.
