A chronic shoplifter banned from Hy-Vee has been arrested again for allegedly stealing from the supermarket chain once more earlier this week.
Iowa City Police say 32-year-old Porscha Curry of the Lake Ridge manufactured housing community was observed by staff at the 1st Avenue Hy-Vee as she was allegedly trying to steal a bottle of St. Remy alcohol. Curry was caught and responded by putting the bottle on the ground and walking out.
Arriving officers found Curry in the nearby Maverick parking lot. She had two other liquor bottles and a bottle of Gatorade on her person, and she claimed they had been purchased by a friend. Video from Hy-Vee reportedly shows Curry shoplifting all three bottles.
Curry is trespassed from both the Hy-Vee and Maverick for previous thefts. She’s now charged with one count of 3rd Degree Theft and two of Trespassing. If convicted, she faces a maximum of two years in jail.
