A Davenport man stopped on suspicion of drunk driving was allegedly found with a loaded handgun.
Coralville police pulled over 47-year-old Michael Stafford of West 4th Street just after 2am Sunday on the 10 block of the Coralville Strip. He reportedly exhibited slurred speech with bloodshot watery eyes, and an odor of ingested alcohol was detected.
After showing signs of impairment on field tests, both PBT and Datamaster tests showed Stafford’s breath-alcohol level over the legal limit.
A search incident to arrest reportedly found a loaded handgun on Stafford’s person.
He was charged with Person Ineligible to Carry Dangerous Weapons and Carrying a Dangerous Weapon while Intoxicated. If convicted on both counts, Stafford faces a jail sentence of up to two years.
