A North Liberty woman faces an OWI charge after police tracked her vehicle back to her residence in the snow.

The incident occurred just before 1am Monday. According to police, 44-year-old Kristin Baumgarth of Silver Maple Trail was called in by a concerned citizen after she allegedly hit a group mail box. Due to recent snow, tire tracks were observed going over the curb, striking the mailbox, and then driving to the residence.

When contacted by police, Baumgarth reportedly admitted to driving, drinking alcohol beforehand, and to hitting the mailbox.  She allegedly had bloodshot watery eyes and the odor of ingested alcohol.  After showing measurable impairment on field sobriety tests, Baumgarth provided a breath sample on Datamaster reportedly showing her breath-alcohol level at .091 percent.

She’s now charged with Operating While Intoxicated and Leaving the Scene of an Accident.
