Iowa City police say a drunk driving suspect walked home from an accident that caused injuries serious enough that she later required hospitalization.
Arrest records indicate 61-year-old Madonna Fowler of the Saddlebrook manufactured housing community struck a car parked at the Mane Gate apartments on Heinz Road just before 10:15 on the morning of December 26th. Police say she left her Chevy Trailblazer at the scene and walked home. Fowler allegedly showed signs of intoxication, admitted to drinking two beers, and had a bump on her head from the accident that required multiple days of hospitalization. A blood draw showed her alcohol level at .137%.
A warrant was issued for Fowler’s arrest on Thursday, and she’s now charged with Operating While Intoxicated – 2nd Offense, Striking an Unattended Vehicle, Driving While Suspended, and Failure to Provide Proof of Financial Liability. If convicted, she faces up to two years in jail.
