A road rage suspect is accused of pulling a gun on a fellow motorist on Iowa City’s west side.

Iowa City Police say just before 4:30 Thursday afternoon 28-year-old MacArthur Young became angry with how another motorist was driving. He allegedly pulled up next to the other vehicle at the stoplight at Melrose Avenue and Mormon Trek Boulevard, rolled down his window, and displayed his registered firearm toward the other driver. The woman quickly sped away. She later told police Young only displayed the gun, and never made a threat or pointed it at her.

Police say Young later admitted to displaying his holstered firearm so the woman could see it.

A search of Young’s nearby Finkbine Lane apartment reportedly turned up three firearms and marijuana inside Young’s bedroom which he allegedly admitted were his.

Young is charged with Assault While Displaying a Dangerous Weapon, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Keeping Premises for the Use of Controlled Substances. If convicted on all counts, he faces a maximum of five years in jail.
