A high-speed chase through Iowa City has led to a felony charge against a Coralville man.
A Johnson County Sheriff’s deputy reports observing a 2009 Toyota Highlander driving westbound on Highway 6 near 420th Street at about 5:15 on the evening of January 6th. The officer attempted a traffic stop, but the vehicle reportedly sped up to speeds up to 105 miles per hour. The pursuit was terminated due to traffic and the high speeds.
Iowa City Police later interviewed a man they demeaned to be the driver, 36-year-old Dylan Scott of Boston Way. He allegedly admitted to eluding the deputy because he had a firearm and drugs in his possession. His license is currently suspended.
Scott is charged with Felony Eluding and Driving While Suspended. If convicted, he faces a maximum of five years in prison.
