A second suspect has been arrested after allegedly lying in wait and attacking an Iowa City convenience store employee.

The incident occurred the evening of March 29th at the Broadway Street Casey’s. According to police, 28-year-old Zachary Prestridge and 29-year-old Lana Rae Jensen Prestridge…who live together in the Breckenridge Estates manufactured housing community on Taft Avenue…waited in the dumpster enclosure for the victim to come outside with the trash. When he did, Prestridge reportedly hit the victim repeatedly and shoved him into the brick wall. Jensen Prestridge allegedly hit the man over the head several times with a metal cooking pot. The two suspects then left the scene. The employee suffered pain and numbness in his head and shoulder as a result of the alleged assault.

The victim told police he knew his assailants and was at their residence earlier in the day. When confronted about the incident, Prestridge allegedly admitted to the assault and said the victim, quote, “got what he got. ”

Prestridge was charged with Assault causing Bodily Injury, a serious misdemeanor punishable by a jail sentence of up to a year if convicted.

Jensen Prestridge was previously charged with Assault Causing Bodily Injury, Driving While Barred, and Driving While Revoked. She faces up to three years in jail, if convicted on all counts. A no-contact order between the victim and the two defendants was requested.
