An area transient is accused of following a Shelter House resident down the street and assaulting her.

Police say 46-year-old Kelli Rehwinkel followed the victim Friday morning from Shelter House to the Waterfront Drive HyVee. Rehwinkel allegedly approached the woman outside the store, threw rocks at her and kicked her leg.

The victim was bleeding from one of the injuries sustained by the rock throwing.

Rehwinkel was arrested and charged with Assault causing Bodily Injury and 3rd degree Harassment. If convicted on both counts, she could be sentenced to up to thirteen months in jail.
