Iowa City firefighters responded to another fire at a local homeless encampment over the weekend.
Records from the Johnson County Joint Emergency Communications Center show crews were dispatched to the encampment that sits on the west bank of the Iowa River, south of McCollister Boulevard, just after 8:45 Sunday morning. The initial report was of a small building on fire. The PulsePoint app shows firefighters were on the scene for over 90 minutes.
No other details have been made available. Firefighters responded to a similar blaze at the same encampment in November which was caused by an unattended fire.
