A Hope House resident who signed out of the facility in January and never returned was located and arrested over the weekend.
According to court documents, 27-year-old Gabriel Meister was sentenced to the Coralville facility on drug, weapons, burglary and theft charges. On January 25th, he signed out of Hope House just after 1pm for the purpose of employment and listed a return time of 1am the following day. Meister did not return and his whereabouts were unknown.
A warrant for his arrest was issued on the 26th; he remained at large until he was booked into the Johnson County Jail Sunday afternoon. He faces a parole violation and a charge of Voluntary Absence from Custody. If convicted on the second charge, he could be sentenced to up to a year in jail.
