An Iowa City man has been arrested on a warrant stemming from an alleged February assault.

According to court documents, police were called to a threat call in North Liberty just after 2:30am on February 8th. The victim on scene told officers that 40-year-old Rodney Causey of Gilbert Court was over at the residence and started to argue with her. He then reportedly threatened her and began to charge at her. However, she reported that nothing physical happened, and didn’t want to press charges.

Just over two hours later, police returned on reports that the front door had been kicked off its hinges. The victim went with officers to the North Liberty Police Department to give her statement. She said Causey was mad about an incident that occurred earlier in the evening and that they started arguing. As the incident escalated, Causey allegedly grabbed the woman’s hair and wouldn’t let go. The victim’s sister broke up the altercation, but the victim agreed to let Causey come to her home. Later, he allegedly pushed the woman and pulled her hair again.

A warrant was issued for Causey’s arrest and he was taken to the Johnson County Jail early Tuesday morning. He’s been charged wtih Domestic Abuse Assault causing Injury, a serious misdemeanor punishable by a jail sentence of up to a year if convicted.
