The Iowa City Community School District has lost its credit rating with Moody’s.

The credit rating agency will no longer list the district since it failed to perform accurate audits for the last three years, leading to a budget shortfall.

Losing the rating will make it more difficult for the district to pass any future bond issues.

The district has since conducted audits for 2024 and 2025, but it could take a significant amount of time for Moody’s to relist the credit rating.

Last month, the district hired Pat Moore, CFO of the Solon Community School District, as its new chief financial officer. She starts July 1st.
