A Cedar Rapids man has been charged with carrying dangerous weapons while under the influence.
Court documents indicate 58-year-old Carey Smith of Buckingham Drive NW was pulled over along the 700 block of Augusta Avenue in Oxford the evening of April 25th and outside of his vehicle when authorities checked up on him. They allege he showed multiple signs of intoxication including bloodshot watery eyes, dilated pupils, slurred speech and the odor of alcohol on his breath.
After performing poorly on field tests, Smith provided a PBT showing his breath-alcohol level at .153 percent.
Multiple open shooter bottles were allegedly found in Smith’s vehicle, and a weapon was reportedly discovered.
A warrant was requested, and Smith was charged with Possession of a Dangerous Weapon while Intoxicated, a serious misdemeanor punishable by a jail term of up to a year if convicted.
