Fire caused tens of thousands of dollars in damage to a garage in Muscatine.
The Muscatine Fire Department reports receiving a 9-1-1 call just after 3:30 Friday afternoon about a fire inside an unattached garage at 1019 Lincoln Boulevard. Upon arrival, fire crews encountered heavy smoke and flames. A fire attack was initiated, and multiple hand lines were deployed to protect nearby structures. A second alarm was requested to bring in off-duty firefighters, with mutual aid requested from the Fruitland Fire Department.
The fire was brought under control at 4:10 p.m.
There were no injuries reported to occupants, bystanders, or firefighters. The initial loss for the structure and its contents is estimated at $30,000. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
