Gas prices continue to rise, with GasBuddy’s survey of over 2000 Iowa stations showing the average price for a gallon of unleaded gas at $4.22.
That’s over 52 cents higher than a month ago, and about $1.35 higher than a year ago.
Iowa is still below the national average, which now stands at $4.48 a gallon.
GasBuddy’s Patrick De Haan says while oil prices eased a bit midweek amid optimism that the US and Iran could reach a deal, President Trump’s rejection of the current proposal has pushed the prices back up in electronic trading. He predicts the national average could head towards the $4.65 a gallon mark, and continue to rise in the weeks ahead.
