A North Liberty man was arrested early Monday after an alleged assault on his intimate partner.
Police responded to a domestic disturbance just before 1am on the 400 block of Heritage Place. Upon arrival, they met 41-year-old Daniel Coleman outside the residence, and the victim inside her residence.
The woman told officers that Coleman pinned her down on the couch over an argument. He then allegedly covered her mouth with his hands. She stated that she was able to get away, but Coleman then threw the woman’s cellphone at her, striking her in the mouth. She reportedly had a fat bruised upper lip along with bruises on her arms consistent with being pinned down.
Coleman was charged with 2nd offense Domestic Assault and could be sentenced to up to five years in prison if convicted.
Coleman was released on his own recognizance later that day pending arraignment. A no-contact order was issued by Judge Jason Burns.
