A Coralville man accused of using his vehicle as a weapon has pleaded guilty to a lesser charge.
Judge Jason Burns fined 20-year-old Braden Spain $105 on May 8th after he pleaded guilty to a charge of Disorderly Conduct. Spain was initially charged with Assault With Intent to Inflict Serious Injury, which carries a maximum jail sentence of two years upon conviction.
According to arrest records, on August 9th of last year Spain got mad at the alleged victim for slamming his car door too hard as they parked in a parking garage near Spain’s 5th Street residence. The victim claimed Spain accelerated his car and struck them, knocking them to the ground. The person complained of head pain. Spain refuted that the dispute ever became physical…which is supported by the reduced charge in the plea deal.
