An accused Northside Neighborhood masturbator has been given a deferred judgment.
Online court records indicate Judge Jason Burns handed that sentence down to 45-year-old Levi Nielsen on Thursday as part of a plea deal. Along with pleading guilty to a charge of Indecent Exposure, charges of Assault on Police Officers and Interference With Official Acts Causing Bodily Injury were dismissed.
Multiple witnesses report seeing Nielsen masturbating with his shorts down while sitting on a curb along the 800 block of North Gilbert Street on the night of July 25th, 2024. Arriving officers say Nielsen refused to put his hands behind his back when asked and tried to walk away. Once Nielsen was finally placed into handcuffs, he allegedly kicked at and spit on an arresting officer. One officer suffered a scraped forearm and a bruised left knee.
As part of the plea deal, Nielson will be entered into the Iowa Sex Offender Registry and placed on one year of probation.
