Multiple agencies responded to a manure fire near Kalona Thursday morning.
Washington County dispatch records indicate Kalona firefighters were called to 4881 Orval Yoder Turnpike northwest of Frytown just after 9:30 a.m. for a vegetation fire that spread to a nearby manure pile. The Wellman and Riverside fire departments were also called in with requests to bring tankers.
The fire was eventually extinguished. No damage to structures or injuries was reported.
